Zboard, in association with Dell, Connect3D, Ceratech, Accuratus and Starbytes LAN Cafe are proud to present our open Painkiller tournament. The tournament offers the chance to win some great prizes from Zboard and Connect3D, free give-aways in the form of a raffle, as well as the possiblity to be selected (by the current zb.pk team) to become a fully sponsored member of the team zboard painkiller squad.

This opportunity is ultra rare and gives the lucky player the chance to go to major LAN events all expenses paid! It also includes a full setup from zboard and Dell, TV and print coverage compliments of Livewire and Invader magazine, monthly bootcamps and more!

You will also have a chance to tryout the zboard and its keysets first hand and test the power of Dells latest XPS gaming machines.The event will be held at Starbytes LAN Cafe in southampton, Hampshire in the south of the UK and is only open to UK residents.

The tournament is aimed at being fun, bootcamping and winning some prizes, the zb.pk player selection is secondary. It will be Running over two days in february, saturday 26th and sunday 27th. Doors open 9am Saturday and the event will close 5pm Sunday evening. It will consist of a 32 man bracket with the possibility of expanding to a 64 man depending of the interest in the event.

The coverage of the CPL qualifier in Istanbul is pretty poor, but ill try to get as much information sorted as possible.

Due to the framerate problems while recording demos with the 1.61 version, no demos are being recorded.

Furthermore the tournament PCs seem to be pretty bad. Running bad framerates and bad graphics on Geforce 5500 cards. Apparantly the shuttles normally used at the CPL got stopped by customs.

The First-Gaming e-Sports team picks up three more players for their Painkiller squad. Rezah was the only player left after MaddoG transferred to Serious Gaming (#serious.team), and will now be reinforced by Appz, sev1 and C_Lains. All three players were formally members of #gmex.

-Replaced rocket pack by BA with SMG weapon
-Changed minigun ammo to SMG ammo: 30 ammo per box
-Swapped boltgun for SG in MH room
-Placed 3 boltgun ammo packs: 22 ammo per box?

-Removed sky because it was causing a crazy bug

The purpose of this is to test the idea of replacing the minigun ammo on a map with SMG+SMG ammo. The idea is that it takes a bit of emphasis off of the RL/Chain weapon control, allows for a greater chance of picking up a weapon upon spawning (slightly reduced spawn kills perhaps?), and creates a couple new weapons for a player to control and think about while playing. Heck, it might be more fun to play as a newbie also.. it’s pretty upsetting when you come into PK the first time and all you get to do is run around with a stake launcher because there are no RLs to pick up.

Feel free to test the map on my server, “Tectonic’s 1v1.” The password is scrim. Share this password with whomever you like! The server would be public if I could afford to pay for it ;).

Tell me what you think.. I left the major item placement alone and just added in the weapons and ammo basically. Sorry, but the sky had to go! The weirdest bug I’ve ever seen appeared when I first modified the map.. removing the sky fixed it, so that’s the way it is. I suspect most of you don’t use the sky anyway.
